Hip

Vol. 01
Well, personally I wasn't to crazy about "New Whirl Odor" and
I'm a huge P.E. fan to I had be waiting for this "Rebirth
Of A Nation" for a while to get my P.E. fix
Rebirth Of
A Nation" is very different from what you would come to
expect from a P.E. album. Then again, this isn't a Public Enemy
album, but a Public Enemy featuring Paris album. For Latin
Hip Hop Fans, "Rebirth Of A Nation" is comparable
to the Sick Symphonies project, where it's not a Psycho Realm
album and it's not a Street Platoon album but both groups contribute
equally to produce a new sound. Rebirth Of A Nation" is

Being
from the Bay Area and life time fan of Paris and PE, I was looking
forward to an amazing collboration. To be honest, if anyone
can be apart of Public Enemy, P Dog is the perfect man! Not
only do I see him as the best Bay Area rapper, but one of the
better over all rappers from California.
One of the stand-out
tracks is "Hell No, We Ain't Alright", which
has a classic P.E vibe. "Rebirth Of A Nation" sucessfully
combines classic Public Enemy with a 90's G Funk sound. This
tracks features both DJ Lord and the return of Terminator X,
as Flav confirms as he yells out "Terminator is back" on
the track. Other solid cuts on the album are "Can't Hold
Us Back", ""Make It Hardcore" and the new
remix of "Invisible Man."
The downside of "Rebirth
Of A Nation" is that after Paris' "Sleeping With The
Enemy", one of my favorite albums, he turned to the G Funk
sound that Dr. Dre was blowing up at the time and has continued
to use it on every album he records, giving his current work
an outdated 90's sound. Paris definitely made some tracks work
with his new style ("Rebirth of a Nation"), but for
the most part the production did not fit for a P.E. album.
Overall,
I was not very impressed by "Rebirth of a Nation".
It definitely has it moments, but considering the parties involved
I expected a much more powerful record. "Rebirth of a Nation" features
Dead Prez, Kam, MC Ren, The Conscious Daughters and Immortal
Technique. . |
